  • If you stopped taking a statin drug because of significant muscle pain, how long before the pain went away?

Also, which statin and dose were you taking, and how long did you take it? I am in this situation, and have been given the OK by a locum physician (substitute for my regular doctor) to stop taking Crestor (5mg/day) for two months, to see if my muscle pains will go away. I've been on this drug for 7 years. I have ruled out most other possible causes. I'm just wondering about other people's experiences.

  • My desktop wired mouse deletes images and videos when I left double-click. How to fix?

This started happening about a month ago. Before that, double-clicking on an image or video opened the file in the appropriate program, just like it would open a folder or a text file. It still does the latter, but deletes images and videos - but not into the Recycle Bin. These files become hidden in their current folder, and can be retrieved with an undelete program, but that is getting to be a nuisance. I can, of course, right-click on an image or video icon and open it in a selected program, but I don't always remember to do that, so I temporarily lose the file. The Mouse Properties in the Control Panel (Windows XP SP3) doesn't make any reference to the related mouse button properties. Any ideas?

  • Is Adele going to become the next Mama Cass?

Cass Elliot of The Mamas and The Papas - super voice, not so super physique, not so super health issues toward the end - she died at 32 from complications of being obese. Is Adele headed in the same direction? I hope not.

  • How to download and save an HTML document instead of just a link?

I need an easy way to download and save an online document instead of just the web link. I need to save the actual document to a flash drive, then take it to another offline computer in another location to print it. So far, all I've been able to do in HTML is save the link to the webpage. I need to keep the original formatting, because if I try to save it in Word or Text formatting, the document becomes difficult to read.

  • I just got onto Facebook. Is there any way to delete some or all of the "People You May Know"?

Every time I log into Facebook, I get this long list of "people you may know", and I seldom know any of them. It's a nuisance to scroll through the list looking for new entries. Also, when looking for possible friends, is there any way to enter an elementary school or city area as a search parameter? I'm beginning to think the whole Facebook thing is not for me.

  • What would cause slow starting of a 1996 Honda Accord when gas tank is below 1/4?

Usually, my car starts right away, but when the fuel gauge falls below 1/4 full, the engine takes several extra turns before it fires up. The fuel filter is replaced regularly.

  • Is there an easy way to turn off ALL formatting in Open Office Word Processor?

Many times I find myself fighting with the default formatting and would like to just turn all of it off, and do my own indenting, numbering, etc. Is there an easy way to turn off all the formatting so I can do everything manually? I have the latest version of Open Office.

  • What do you think of my Tiny Tale?

This was no dark and stormy night, full of foreboding, but a bright, sunny morning, full of promise. As if. Today was the day of his senior's driving test.

  • Has anyone else found Mozilla Thunderbird to be slow?

I recently switched from the bloated Incredimail program to Mozilla Thunderbird for my email, but find it very slow to load, open emails, etc. If others have found the same thing and have figured out a fix, let me know in your answers.

  • As a viewer of The Voice, would you like Christina to cover up her chest?

I don't mind a little bit of cleavage, but Christina Aquilera's overexposure is not very attractive, in my opinion. What do you think?

  • What's your take on this quote from Neil Peart, Rush's drummer?

In a June 2012 interview with Canadian newsmagazine Maclean's, Neil Peart, the drummer for the 1970's rock group Rush, which just released their 20th studio album "Clockwork Angels", stated: "It is impossible to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and be a Republican. It's philosophically absolutely opposed." Considering that (from what I've heard) a majority of Republicans call themselves Christians, I find this interesting. What's your opinion?

  • I have a two-part question about canned fish. How come ... ?

How come canned tuna doesn't have the same texture as canned salmon and canned sardines (all canned in water)? How come canned salmon (in water) doesn't list water as one of the ingredients on the label, but canned tuna (in water) and canned sardines (in water) always do? These two questions have been bugging me for several decades.

  • How do I buy a magazine subscription online from PCH in Canada?

PCH continues to send out magazine and merchandise offers to Canadian residents, but trying to find a way to buy a subscription online is like a dog chasing its tail. They don't have an online catalog, and their registration form seems to be for U.S. addresses only. Google search seems to get only sweepstakes entry points. Are there any Canadians out there that know if an online subscription purchase is possible, and if so, how to do it?

  • Can I safely disable auto start-up components for Nero and Cyberlink programs that are used only occasionally?

I have both Nero Essentials and Cyberlink Power DVD and Producer installed on my Windows XP computer. I never use the Cyberlink programs (but might want to in the future), and I use the Nero programs only occasionally. When I ran Sysinternals' AutoRuns, it turned up 72 Nero and 35 Cyberlink auto start-up entries under Logon, Explorer, Services, and Codecs. If I just disable these startup entries, should I still be able to use the Nero and Cyberlink programs when I need to, allowing for a slower loading time?

  • Is anyone else getting strange colored lines and patterns on the Answers pages?

I'm getting lines of various colors and patterns, as well as green half-circles on the Submit, etc. buttons. The buttons still work, and show up as the regular thing when I run my mouse over them. Is this some new security idea of Yahoo, or do I have a glitch in my computer?

  • My "new" computer won't boot if my 1TB external HDD is connected - any way to fix this?

I had to get a refurbished desktop computer after my "old" motherboard quit working. This computer works fine, but won't boot unless my 1TB HDD is disconnected. After it boots completely, I can plug in the HDD and everything is fine. The techies who refurbished my "new" computer told me that it's normal for some older computers (early 2000's) have this problem. It's only a minor inconvenience, but I am wondering if there's any setting(s) I can adjust so I can leave the external HDD plugged in. I am (still) using Windows XP SP3, 80GB internal HDD, 1GB RAM, Pentium 4.
