If you stopped taking a statin drug because of significant muscle pain, how long before the pain went away?

Also, which statin and dose were you taking, and how long did you take it? I am in this situation, and have been given the OK by a locum physician (substitute for my regular doctor) to stop taking Crestor (5mg/day) for two months, to see if my muscle pains will go away. I've been on this drug for 7 years. I have ruled out most other possible causes. I'm just wondering about other people's experiences.

It may take several weeks before you notice a difference; the difference may only be a slight difference.

There are other medications and illnesses that could cause the symptoms you are having. Some psychiatric medicines and infectious diseases could be possible causes for your symptoms.

My suggestion is to give it a couple of weeks to see if you notice a difference. If don't see a difference after discontinuation of Crestor, consult your physician about any other medicines you are taking.

Seeking an endocrinologist or infectious disease doctor if it is not due to medicines would be my suggestion.

two to three weeks to flush it from your system , sometimes shorter, everyone I know has been affected by muscle pain or joint pain or other severe problems one lady actually lost her sight a week after going on statins but was 20/20 2 weeks after stopping, another a diabetic had her diabetes go totally out of control and died after being on a statin for 4 months, they are only effective for people with stents it is a huge confidence trick by the drug industry on politicians worldwide to push this stuff
