fastest and cheapest way Liverpool or Manchester to Scotland?

Hello,

in August I will be going to UK. I would like to visit Scotland (Edinburgh and other places around there) and I also would like to visit a friend who lives in Manchester. I will be arriving in Liverpool and then going to MAN.

I was wondering if then I could just go directly to Edinburgh in an easy and cheap way. Maybe by ferry or else.

I've already checked the flights but I could not find anything cheap.

For cheap I mean round-trip (for instance Liverpool-Scotland) around 40-50£

Cheers :D

PS. Also suggest some nice places you know might be interesting to visit (other than the common cities). I like nature and I am a photographer.

Ciao!

I'm a big fan of traveling by train. As others have stated it may not be the fastest but it is amongst the cheapest and much more comfortable than may planes.

By train. Booking your ticket well in advance for specifically timed trains will give you low fares. You'll see a lot on the way and you will go city centre to centre rather than spending ages travelling to and from airports and enduring 2 hour check ins, Liverpool Lime Street to Edinburgh takes 3 hours 42 minutes including one change of train at Wigan North Western

It may not be the fastest but one of the cheapest ways is to travel is with Euro Lines / Mega bus / National Express (by bus). With National express you could visit all of those places while roughly keeping within your budget. Just go on the National Express website and check. Sometimes if you book far enough in advance you can get a ticket as cheap as £9.

Edinburg deserves time of your lifetime to know it and this is actually the place to begin hotelbye . One of the places wherever you could have an excellent outing with all the current household may be the Edinburgh Zoo. This zoo is the house to around 1,000 fabulous creatures, such as the UK's only big pandas. The Zoo is located in lovely parkland settings and includes fantastic flamingos, cute koalas and cheeky chimpanzees. Edinburg is not merely any city; Edinburg is the town to spend your loved ones holyday, a holyday that may never be forgotten.

Go by train and stop off at the lake district. Great photo opportunities. If you stop off at penrith you can catch a bus to lake ullswater. ( patterdale/glenridding )

Check out train times and if possible book on the internet.
