Giving up sugar and side effects?

For the last three days I've virtually cut out all sodas and sweets ,I've also been working out and actually losing a lot of weight. Today I feel like hell I have no energy, I feel constantly hungry but have a hard time actually eating when I say that the thought of almost all foods are revolting and I have a headache plus upset stomach also I have DRASTICALLY cut back my cheese in take I eat more cheese then anything and was just wondering if these could all be symptoms of such drastic changes in my diet?

That's completely normal when you go on a low- or lower-carbohydrate diet.

Right now your body is using up your glycogen stores. Glycogen is converted by your liver into glucose to give you energy. Because you're not taking in as much sugar/carbohydrates, you're burning up your sugar stores. That can leave you feeling really weak and sick. This isn't a dangerous process, though. In fact, it's known as the Atkins Flu because it's so common. To use a common analogy, you're almost in withdrawal.

Eventually, your body will switch over from a glucose-burning metabolism to a fat-burning metabolism because you'll be breaking down fatty acids for energy rather than sugar. This can be an excellent weight loss tool.

In my experience, the 'flu' usually lasts a few days to a few weeks. In the meantime, eat regularly. That can help offset the symptoms. It's just something that you're going to have to endure, unfortunately, but it's worth it to break the sugar addiction.

It is withdrawal symptoms from the high sugar intake you are used to, if you are hungry then eat, diabetics should eat 5 small meals per day. Good Luck
