The Bengals are stupid for not trading what would likely be a cancer in the locker room even if he did give in and play. Why not get paid to get rid of cancer???
Palmer can be called some uncomplimentary names. But, stupid doesn't fit in this case. He doesn't like the team situation. He doesn't like the management/ownership. He has plenty of money. He doesn't like living in Cincinnati.
He sold his house there months ago, not last week. He is prepared to move on to something he would rather do. I don't know if that is to move to a warmer climate, travel the country or world, or, play football for a team that he thinks he would like better.
You can call him what you want. Just don't look for him serving burgers at Mickey D's.
Source(s): Edit for accuracy: Closing of sale of house wasn't until late June.. - UhlanLv 610 years ago
I despise Mike Brown and what he has done to my beloved Bengals.
Under him, they have become the most dysfunctional franchise in all of pro sports. I don't blame Carson Palmer one bit for not wanting to play one more game for that miserable, mean-spirited piker.
It's a joke that Mike Brown is using his "principles" as justification. What "principles?" Mike Brown has none. Google the back story on how he gleefully used extortion to get PBS from Hamilton County. Then Google "Bob Bedinghaus" and find out who he woks for now. After all then then, let's talk about Mike Brown's so called "principles."
Moreover, the Bengals cut players under contract all the time. But, I'm sure Mike Brown will say that is "different." Grow up, Mike. This is the NFL, not some tire store.
I want to hear Carson's side of the story. However, he has too much class to say anything.

He is probably at he point in his life where he can say if he needs to play.Probably still wants to play football but is unhappy with the current situation and would rather quit and let things shake out whatever way they will rather then play unhappy.I am sure he has enough money to last him.
The Bengals remind me of the Lions back in the days when Barry Sanders was there when they did not honer his request for a trade he ended up retireing. They had offers for him and refused to listen to them. Two years after when they realized how stupid they looked they annouced they would listen to trade offers for him.Now there were takers.
Even if he comes back unhappy which sounds unlikely. He will be a cancer in the locker room.
My personal opinion is that listening to trade offers sure wouldn't hurt the Bengals

Both sides are acting like little kids who want to get things their own way.
Mike Brown is more stupid because there are teams like the Dolphins interested in Palmer and he could get some value in return.

the bengals are stupid for not trading him. might as well trade him and get something in return rather than let him retire and get nothing. even though he's not a great quarterback, there are plenty of teams that could have used a solid veteran quarterback like him.

If he didn't want to play for the Bengals why did he sign t he deal? Hes being an idiot.
BQ: The best move for them would be to trade him.

Wow for once I support Palmer for being smart...

He's being stupid. Why would you just sit a year instead of having a chance to start and play?
BQ: Yes I think his glory days are over
