Would the Barrett .50 cal m99 be a good rifle for a sniper?

I want to be a sniper and I think this would be a good gun to use, but I don't know much about guns so can someone tell me if this will be a good one? Also can I get a suppressor, bipod, black sling, and black scope for it? Someone told me in an earlier question that I need all of these to be a sniper. Thanks =D

I've heard the Barret is awesome! But I also heard some guy saying you can't shoot people with a 50 cal cause it's a war crime or something. It's called the Geneva, Switzerland-something. I thought the swiss were neutral? What do they know about sniping?

for game hunting, legal or not... you would find a 40 pound weapons system to be pretty hard to bear on moving game. I hope your spotter doesn't make a lot of noise either... tends to spook game. A 50 cal "sniper" rifle is used against materiel 8 of 10 shots....it's ideal for shooting light vehicles, semi-fixed positions...you see, when using a Barrett one would take advantage of the oppositions "predictabilty'... you find the enemy, set up and wait for a shot. Elk and deer have patterns... but can be awfully unpredictable. Most hunters work pretty hard to get a "lucky shot". I am not sure which 50 cal Browning machine gun round we would use on Elk... at less than a mile, that would not either pass right through the beast- or totally ruin the carcass. Wounding any deer or elk - and giving it a 1/2 mile head start just about insures you wont successfully track it in the terrain they are found in. Yep...you know this is crazy- cause it is.

You sound like a troll, but ill answer none-the-less. If youve never owned a "big boy toy" before, maybe the .50 isnt your best starting rifle. But yes, the 50 is a good rifle, if your anti-material sniping. otherwise your paying 5-6 dollars a bullet for nothing. And most .50 cals come with a "SUPPRESSOR" but then again its hard to silence a small cannon going off. Maybe you should start out with like an r700 and get some long rifle training. I recommend black water. If you want more info on black water you can message me, cause i feel like im wasting my time.

Dont listen to these guys, they also once had no clue, just like you. Why dont you try and buy a simple stock Remington 700 .270 in black, if you want a black gun. Then buy the best optics you can afford with mil dot reticle. Then go shoot and shoot and shoot, if you are old enough to do so without adult supervision. Start at 50 yards and work your way up to 300 yards. While your not practicing shooting, do pushups, sit ups, and run 3-4 miles a day. Then go enlist and tell recruiter you want to go JFK SPEC WAR Sniper School at Ft. Bragg. The pros will take it from there. If you cant afford a Remington 700 now, buy a Marlin model 60 or 66 .22 used for $100.00, and practice with that. Good Luck.

    No, No and thrice no.

You don't need a suppressor you need a 2 Litre soda bottle (painted black), 2 canes taped together with black tape, black stockings for a sling ( I bet the kids mom has some lacy stockings) Use an air rifle scope and slip a cardboard tube over it to make it look tacticool.

train with a .22 first. then learn basic military skills. then fieldcraft. then stalking. the train on a .308 bolt action rifle. you most likey won't need a .50.

First off snipers don't use 50 bmgs

Second you don't suppress a.50 bmg, that is like telling a politician to shut up,you can try all you want but it will still make noise.

Please stop trying to be cool before you get yourself hurt

Get a bright orange jacket, because enemies expect snipers to wear ghillie suits.

Back away from the XBox, you are going to injure yourself.

thats a terrible choice. To heavy, ammo is to heavy, and a .308, 270, or 30-06 will do the job just fine.
