Yes it can. Yahoo doesn't seem to play favorites, it doesn't matter if you have been a member for day, a week,a month or years or are a top contributor the same rules apply to everyone. It also doesn't seem to matter the number of violations but more the severity or perceived severity of the violations. Yahoo takes a dim view of SPAM, bigotry, pornography , being underage 13, insulting other members,racism, anything that even borders on illegal such as drugs even soft drugs, downloading movies, music programs etc. or links to that kind of stuff Any of that can mean a speedy exit.
If you have more than one YA account and they are used for cheating which is often the case it is a serious violation and all your Yahoo accounts could be suspended

Getting suspended depends on the severity of the violation, a really bad one like terms of service can get you suspended immediately or minor ones like chatting it will take quite a few unless you get many very quickly in short space of time.:::::Any time you get a violation notice it is a warning that your account is in jeopardy.
:::::: When a user is SUSPENDED for violating the Community Guidelines, their Yahoo! Answers account is disabled.
:::::They can still browse the website, but they cannot ask questions, or answers questions on the site.
::::All Suspensions are permanent.
You can only get your account back if you appeal for your account and your appeal is accepted, and that happens only when you are Suspended by a false violation, but most of the time, the appeals are declined, and so almost no one ever get their accounts back.
::::::::::::::::If you violate the Yahoo! Terms of Service (impersonate someone, harass users here, use pornographic pictures) your account will be DEACTIVATED if Yahoo! receives a report.
::::::::::::::::Difference between SUSPENSION and account DEACTIVATION is that you can still have your Yahoo! ID if you are Suspended (as in you can still use your Yahoo! Mail and other Yahoo! services except Yahoo! Answers), but if your account is Deactivated, you will lose your entire Yahoo! ID, and won't be able to sign in into your email

Yes It takes only ONE violation of the Terms of Services and an unknown amount for violating the community guidelines. You rarely get a warning. Suggest you read both and avoid those violations
