What would be Devon Alexander's chances in Welterweight to be sucessful?

Considering his fight with Matthysse, I think he has already difficulty making it in jr. welterweight. So, I guess it's not a bad idea to move up in weight. He is still young and with hard work and dedication, he might be the next welterweight to watch. What do you think?

As you said he is having a difficulty making it in Jr. Welterweight, so why move up in weight? He really lost to Kotelnik, he lost to Bradley, and he lost to Matthysse. Unless he fights bums at Welterweight then there's no point in moving up in weight.

Berto would probably knock him out

Ortiz would probably knock him out

Khan, if he moves up in weight, will for sure beat him and possibly knock him out

    Pacquiao would knock him out

Mayweather would probably knock him out

if you include Cotto and Margarito, they'll knock him out too.

I think honestly he should try to stay at 140 as long as he can. Alexander can't hit hard enough at jr welterweight to get anyone's respect, no way it gets better for him at welterweight.

I could see Berto getting in the ring with him, given his reluctance to fight guys with power prior to the Ortiz fight. But other than that fight, I don't see him getting enough big fights to warrant moving up. Khan and Bradley both appear to be moving up, so if he bides his time, he'll be right back in the title hunt at 140.

If anything he should move down in weight, normally if a guy struggles in a certain division, moving up in weight wont help unless they have been stuggling to make weight. Alexander has lost his last 3 fights in many peoples eyes,he got a gift against Kotelnik and a gift against Matthysse. Amir Khan and Tim Bradley also plan to move up,seeing as Alexander cannot beat these guys just now I think it will be the same at a heavier weight.

I hate to burst your bubble so to speak but I think Alexander is a hype job, if he moved down in weight he would lose to the top guys, if he moves up in weight he will lose to the top guys and if he stays in his own division he will lose to the top guys. In short Devon Alexander is not a top boxer.
