Cartilage piercing question?

If I get my cartilage pierced now, once I'm older and out of college (6-8 years down the road) will I be able to take out the earring and grow the hole up? I plan to be in the medical field and I don't want that hole there in the future.

Ok, so this question is an easy one to answer :) Basically, throughout the time your cartilage will fill up, especially in the time that you have written which is 6-8 years. I'm sure it will fill up a lot quicker than that many years. What your skin does, is that it tends to mend or "fix" itself and so does your body.

Don't worry, it will fill up :)

btw, great idea of going into the medical field, my dad's a doctor too :) we really need more people nowadays in that field, loads of people nowadays think its too long so they just become lazy and don't become doctors or anything else in the medical field. :)

Yes, with any pierced that's under a 16 gauge, such as a cartilage piecing, the hole will heal completely one the earring is removed and some time has passed.

YUP. All piercings can close up. As long as you don't stretch them too far (I don't think you're going to be stretching so I think we're ok here). It does take longer to close up if you've had it for a long time but it will close up if there is no jewelry left in it.

    Source(s): I have 2 helixes (cartilage piercings).
