Yes, they are divided. Most people in this nation are politically ignorant (which is evident by the fact the majority support a two party system) and can't see that the moderate to left wing of the republican party are just classic liberals to where the democrats are neo-liberals (liberal in the real meaning of the word not the word that right-wingers use in their liberal media conspiracy theory). what we see in the Tea party is a example on conservative-liberalism and right-wing libertarianism. So what happened is that the tea party started an insurrection within the GOP. I think they will eventually become a third party especially if they stop the debt ceiling from being raised and we lose more jobs and people start starving in the streets and the democrats win another election cycle. The GOP enjoyed them at first when they were motivating their base and winning them elections and fighting for the rights of the rich but when will they get tired of the TP taking their power away? So yes I think we may see the TP become a third party and may even one day over throw the GOP stranglehold on the right-wing support.

Just want to say that I support neither party and these comments are meant to be helpful, not attacking

always shake my head when I hear Obama talking about the need for the rich to "pay their fair share." You can be sure that any tax hike the Dems support will have enough loopholes to accommodate George Soros, Bill Maher, and other rich liberals.
