hair dye experts help!!?

okay ive been dying my hair a #6 mocha brown for the past year using a 20 developer and now i wanted to dye it two shades darker to a #4 dark mocha and i was told to use a 10 developer so i tested it on a strand of my hair and it turned completely black! what went wrong would using a 20 developer have changed the results? how do i get the color i want?

    You can remove the colour and start again or bleach your hair, but be careful! Keep hair healthy so it turns out right! Hope this helps:)

    i'm not sure what you can do to get the right hair color you're looking for, but i've messed up dying my hair & when it turned black it turned to a dark brown after a couple washes. if yours doesnt i would just try leaving it alone a few days then redying with a lighter color. gooodluuck !
