Yes, it happened about 3 years ago. His name is Cesar Lauren. He and his girlfriend (Maria) were both stationed at Camp Lejuene, N.C. when he killed her. He later fled to Guadalajara, Mexico and was arrested there in 2008. Last I heard, though Mexico has agreed to return him to the US (if the death penalty is not pursued) his lawyer is still fighting the extradition process.

Edit: I just saw another article that stated he was extradited to N.C. in 2009 and plead not guilty at trial. I'll let you find more current information now that you have his name.
