Can NRL referees go 5 minutes without dishing out some bullshit penalty for St George?
How much help do they really need? I'm watching their game now, and even though they are 6-0 up against South Sydney, Creagh drops the ball dead, and Souths are penalised because of it. I would facepalm if this wasn't so bloody typical of the idiots hired to rule on games...

It's the direct opposite with Manly. Manly can't play a game without the refs incorrectly denying them a try or incorrectly awarding the other team with a try.

The rule as it stands has always been a pet hate of mine. Players are rewarded for poor ball security. Get rid of the rule altogether, it was played for a hundred years with players having to take responsibility for hanging onto the ball.
Did you see the other game where a player was tackled without the ball, ref said play on. A couple of tackles later they lost it, ref comes back for the penalty for tackling the player off the ball. It is an advantage used in rugby but this was ridiculous.
tkc3, its st takeover not st merger.

Teams dropping the ball always get a penalty, it's not just st george. Players have learned that if they time it right they can let go of the ball as players are moving from the tackle to make it look as if it's been stripped. Looking at the replay you can tell they've just flat out dropped it but i guess the refs don't see it.

This rule is leading to a worse situation than the one it was brought in to stop. Alan Langer has long since departed the scene and lets face it that was why it was brought in in the first place. It is a dumb rule but with the administrators we have currently it probably won't change anytime soon.
As for St George that has been going on for far too long
