i just got a new laptop and wanted to post what the fps are with different settings for games like call of duty black ops.  i know fraps works but i think it only works when you are in game and not for your desktop.  also not sure if it works with audio as in being able to narrate what i am doing as well as capture the sound of the game (prefer to narrate but both would be great).  

prefer it to be free as i can just do fraps and post on YouTube and type a description.  i have a headset mic.

Try Bandicam.
It looks like the Fraps, but so much better.
It's free and you can upload the recorded file to YouTube without converting because the recoded file size is much smaller than Fraps (1/20)
for examples)
- Fraps: 300MB
- Bandicam: 15~25MB

Also, you can record both your call of duty game with your voice.

If you use "Rectangle on a screen" capture mode, you can record your desktop screen as well.
