Buying a cellphone off of ebay...?
When you buy a phone off of ebay so that you just insert your SIM card without beginning a new contract, does the phone have to be the same brand? I know it must be the same carrier, but if my previous phone was Samsung, does my new one have to Samsung as well? Or does that not matter? Thank you.

It just has to be for your carrier and you can put your sim into it. Also, be careful, lots of scammers on eBay selling phones. If I were you, I would not do it, get one from a store in case there are issues. Lastly, if your current phone/plan is not for a smartphone, your carrier will add a data plan to your account. You should not have to extend any contract to do this so make sure you are clear when you contact them.
