Are there some awesome cheap eating and shopping places in Perth?

There might be a few gems that locals know of that aren't well-known. Back east, I'd buy all my designer clothes for a few bucks at St Vinnies stores, quality $3 wine bottles at Dan Murphy's, and my groceries at the market (a 10kg box of tomatoes for $4 in season). Does Perth an equivalent ridiculously cheap stuff of some type?

There are fruit and veg markets near the train station in Station Street, Subiaco and in Midland and in Wannneroo. I don't know the times for them, sorry. But a really frugal friend goes to Wanneroo Fruit and Veg markets. They are in Prindiville Drive. There are two separate markets but they are next to each other. The first one you come to if you are coming along Wanneroo Road and turning right into Prindiville, has a food court and stalls selling clothes and novelties and potplants and I think they have a fruit and veg section. But the big fruit/veg/grocery market has a separate entrance and is next door. The groceries are mostly Asian brands you don't see in general supermarkets. This is an industrial area so the rents must be lower. Buses go up and down Wanneroo Road all the time. If you have a car you can cruise through the Swan Valley and pick up cases of grapes, and other fruit and veg, and honeycomb etc.

Food courts.... each shopping mall has a food court and near closing, they knock prices off whatever they have left. Most of the shopping mall food courts are only open for lunch. There are also food courts in Kiara and I can't be sure of this but I think they are in Morley Drive; near MacDonalds in Albany Highway in Victoria Park, and in Morley (called "Choices"). In Northbridge, the restaurant district, there are lots of little Asian restaurants that are really cheap and tasty. In the city of Perth there is a food court in Carillon Arcade (or is it Carillion?). Recently a radio station did a poll on the best pizza, fish and chips and burgers and the winners were GRAND PROMENADE FISH SUPPLY in Grand Promenade in Bedford, opposite the lawn bowls (number 67 bus) and MARCOS PIZZA in Wanneroo Road opposite Dog Swamp shopping centre (bus 354 plus any buses that go up Wanneroo Road) and ALFRED'S KITCHEN in Guildford, for the burgers (on the Midland line train). There were two other categories of food and one I think was Pasta and I can't remember the other, but I think the radio station was 6PR. If you haven't a car, live near the circle route which goes in a huge circle, joining up with most of the railway stations, major hospitals and Universities. Be careful of eating in Perth city, as just choosing the wrong cheese and biscuits can cost you fifty bucks. Always check a menu first, don't just say "Just a small cheese platter for two please!". A lot of eating places shut at 8pm .... it's not like the Eastern States where things are open late. There is a 24 hour MacDonalds on the corner of Wanneroo Road and I think it is either Morley Drive or Karrinyup Road. KFC do not have coke....they have pepsi.

There are plenty of St Vinnie type shops around.

Can never beat the charity 2nd hand shops for the best and most unique clothes bargains. But for new stuff try Harbour Town in Perth, I haven't been there myself but my teen daughter goes there often and comes back with all sorts of clearance clothes and shoes at reduced prices.
