    Population = Area × Density

    Area of Town A = 600 km.²

    Area of Town B = 400 km.²

    Total area = 600 + 400 = 1,000 km.²

    Population density of Town A = 12 people / km.²

    Population density of Town B = 20 people / km.²

    Population of Town A = 600 × 12 = 7,200 people

    Population of Town B = 400 × 20 = 8,000 people

    Total population = 7,200 + 8,000 = 15,200 people

Total population density = Total Population / Total area

    Total population density = 15,200 / 1,000

    Total population density = 15.2 ≈ 15 people / km.²

    Hope this helps

    Bye !!

    Town A population is 600 x 12 =7200

    Town B population is 400 x 20 = 8000

Combined density would be 15200/1000 = 15.2 person per sq km.

Answer : 15 person per sq km

Final combined density is (how many people)/(total area).

Total how many people = 600*12 + 400*20, units are "people".

Total area = 600 + 400, unit is square kilometers.

Population density combined of those two towns = (600*12+400*20)/(600+400)

    =(7200+8000)/1000

    =15200/1000

=about 15 people per km squared

    population of town a = 600*12 =7200

    population of town b = 400*20 = 8000

    population density of town a & b = 15200 / 32
