I want 22's on my lincoln. How do they perform compared to the original tires. Im curious b4 i buy. Worth it?

Does anybody out here have big rims on their car? I want to put these sweet 22's on my lincoln. Im just curious as to how they feel, how they ride, are they safe on the high way? Do the little tires pop easy? Is my car gunna ride more rough? Is it worth the nice look? Please only answer if you have or have been in a car like this. My old tires were 215 70 R15 The ones i want are 245 30 R22. They match up very closely on paper, but im just worried about hurting the car or majorly loosing my comfortable ride.

The larger the rim, the smaller/shorter the tire. What this means is that there will be less sidewall rubber to absorb the bumps and other road irregularities. This equates to a more rough ride as all those bumps, cracks, potholes, etc are now transmitted to the chassis as opposed to being absorbed by the tire.

Also, when you put larger rims on a vehicle, the rotational mass of those rims is moved outward and it takes more energy to get the vehicle moving.

A third negative of larger rims is that they usually weigh more...a lot more if you're comparing 22's to the original 15" size. This can place a lot of additional unsprung weight on to the suspension components of the vehicle which can mean a shorter life-span for those parts.

As long as the lug nuts light up and you don't force the rim on the rotor of the car and the wheel could turn all the way both ways and your fine. The smaller the rubber on the tire the better gas mileage as well. It ride good on my car bump here and there for me but good. I like it.

With larger wheels and lower profile tyres, the ride will be slightly more bumpy.
