Why are budget cuts spread over the next ten years, but the spending increase is immediate?

it's smoke and mirrors. there are no budget cuts. there are only increases. congress agreed to spend 7.5 trillion more money in the next 10 years rather than 9 trillion the democrats wanted. that's 7.5 trillion over the current projected budget. you see, they didn't cut anything, all they cut is the projected growth of the federal government from 9 trillion to 7.5 trillion. they didn't fix the problem. the government is still going to grow.

So the next Democrat caucus can prevent the cuts actually happening - like in literally 100% of cases when a "bargain" has ever been reached with Democrats.

It's because our bought and paid for polticians won't have to deal with the fall out from their actions, until well after their terms are up. They won't have to bear the heavier taxes or oppressive regulations. Just a happy retirement knowing they screwed the public.

if you are talking about raising the debt limit, that was spending done in the last 10 years.. So it had to be passed to pay for that spending. Like when you buy a tv with your credit card. The spending was done when you bought it, not when you paid it.
Now spending is reduced over several years because you find different things to cut at different times. The government can't say we are not gonna pay this now, because there are contracts with different companies or providers. When the contract is done, then the savings can be taken intoi account.
Hope that helped

Because it's easier to be dishonest that way. If they were honest, they would be talking about how much they are spending now and how much for next year. Instead they treat us to fantasy numbers for the years they won't even be there. It's all a dog and pony show.

Because most of these @ssholes have no intention of cutting the budget.

Because the spending cuts will never happen. They were cuts on levels that have not yet been created.
It is called Congress and the President calling us idiots again.

Because the republican house overwhelmingly approved it,including 26 members of the tea party caucus. They must have wanted it that way or they wouldn't have voted for it. They do have your back financially don't they ?

It's the Wimpy plan. I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. Wimpy will never pay you back and the budget cuts will never happen either.
