What are the benefits to being Vegetarian or Vegan?
I'll probably never be any of them. I like meat too much. It's always great to use in my cooking. I also believe it's essential for healthy living.
Anyway, what are the benefits to being vegetarian or vegan?
If you can convince me that meat is no good. Then maybe I'll consider being a vegetarian.

There are an infinite number of benefits to being vegan, just look at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine website, for the personal health benefits. No one can convince another to make a decision such as this, it needs to be one's personal choice or you won't stick with it.

The first benefit is the increase of vegetables in one's diet. Plant matter has natural disease fighting properties, so people who eat more plants and less meats are healthier than people who eat more meat and less plants. Even if you don't become vegetarian, if you increase your fruits and vegetables to over 50% of your diet, then fill in the rests with more starches than meats, use meat as a side dish, then you will be healthier.

Lose weight, lower cholesterol, spare animals' lives, and save the planet among other things. I'm vegan and I don't think I can go back to even becoming vegetarian. Vegetarians don't realize that even eating dairy, eggs, and animal by-products still hurts animals!

I don't think an independent source has ever proclaimed vegetarian, and especially vegan, diets to be healthier than a well-balanced diet that includes meat - particularly white meats and fish.
I also don't see how you could get the same nutritional balance as a vegetarian without spending more money, either on supplements or expensive meat-alternative products.
It is probably better for the environment, especially if you buy all organic.
Source(s): Personally, I believe vegetarianism is a first-world luxury provided to us thanks to supermarkets and the organic food movement. Prior to the 19th century, vegetarians didn't exist other than in religious practice and if you were a starving child in a developing nation, you'd eat what you could get. you get to eat a lot of different foods and meat substitutes (now with seafood). your happy, and the animals are happy too, so its something nice for everyone. And you get to eat your favorite foods without getting sick (depends) but its cool in a lot of ways

its healthier, its been proven these diets tend to give people longer, healtheir lives
its better for the environment... the waist from feed lots, stockyards, and the volumes of food they consume to produce are destroying the rain forests
its cheaper (unless you are eating a lot of expensive meat replacements)

Live life according to your heart.
If your heart enjoys the taste of meat, eat meat. Don't let no person try to persuade you into living there way a life.
