MAN CITY!!!
And whoever called their defensive line mediocre must not have a clue about the league, last year they were tied with Chelsea for the fewest goals allowed. Joe Hart is in incredible form, Kompany was arguably the best center back in the league. They just signed Clichy and Stefan Savic (who has looked good in preseason). Kolarov, Zabaleta, and Richards have all proven themselves to be reliable. Kolo Toure when he gets back from suspension can resume his position alongside Kompany making a solid partnership. And even Lescott, who in my opinion isnt that great, has been able to hold his own at center back. Defense is not the problem for City, their problem last year was scoring goals without Tevez who accounted for a third of their goals.
This season with the way Silva and Yaya Toure are playing, they should create a lot of chances and Sergio Aguero, Balotelli, Dzeko, and for now Tevez give Mancini several options upfront. Man City have the depth to challenge for titles in all four competitions they are in.

It is really hard to predict. I think the main contest will be between Manchester City and Manchester United so far. Chelsea and Arsenal haven't made any big signings. I think that Chelsea need to make signings or they are doomed.......especially clearing up some spots in thier defense and midfield.......they haven't replaced Ballack yet and that is an issue. Arsenal finishing in fourth place will be a massive achievement for them. Arsene Wenger is one of the greatest tacticians every in the game, but he is also an idiot when it comes to making proper signings. He isn't going to win if he has a ton of average players and no superstars. Manchester United and Manchester City made ideal signings and have that success from last year to give them momentum this upcoming year. Liverpool I think will step right in and battle for fourth with Arsenal, infact i think they will probably beat them. Kenny Dalglish is a fantastic manager and Liverpool also have Luis Suarez, one of the best players in the world. I think that Sunderland and Tottenham will battle for the 6th place Europa League spot.

United and Chelsea
United will continue playing the way they were,, if main strikers like Rooney, Chicharito will stay healthy for the rest of the season, then United will bag it again but with a small difference of GD against Chelsea. I believe that Torres will bounce back strong this season, but question is Villas-Boas will be a great manager for them.
City I think isn't that a tough contender, even they have Aguero this season. Yes, they have a great attacking players, but they have a mediocre defensive line.

I think Manchester United will clinch it again with the same top 4 as last year although I expect a smaller gap this year than the 9 points between United and Chelsea last year.

Choose 1 out of 3.
Chelsea - They have a new manager with a great vision but I'm afraid managers like Mourinho are very rare. Moreover, they don't have a reserve squad like Man U to give rest to senior players.
Arsenal - Their goalkeeper and defense is very questionable.
Man Utd- They are just getting better and better.
So the answer is Man Utd.
Caution : Liverpool and Man City are there but they are just not ready for it yet.
