How do I get my DVD/CD- Rom to work again?

When I load a CD in the driver I get a message "No DVD/CD-Rom drive found". The drive shows up in the "Device Manager" but there's a minus sign in the box. I can get a plus sign to come up but when I close the window, it goes back to the minus sign. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device, but that didn't work. I recently had more RAM added and the drive hasn't worked since.

Did you check to see if the cords got unplugged? If for some reason your tech who installed the ram was incompetent they may have bumped the cords connecting your DVD/R to the power supply or motherboard. You need to be sure that there are 2 different cables plugged in securely to the back of your DVD/R.

If that does not fix it, then I would take it back to whomever installed your RAM and tell them to fix it. They don't stop working because of new RAM.
