What does it do and can I disable it without interrupting the other services?

It isn't turned on very often but I do have stuff on it I'd like to get to. The last time I turned it on the lock icon in the upper left hand corner was in the "locked" position and I couldn't get to any programs. How do I unlock it? I tried using the system restore cd but couldn't get anywhere with that. Thanks for your help!

I am looking for ways to speed up my computer. If I "remove" old Windows XP and Security Updates, will my computer still run properly? When I click on "remove", I get the message saying it may not run properly. Do the latest updates replace the older ones?

It wasn't turned on for quite a long time. I decided to turn it on recently and it's completely locked up. The "motor" runs quitely but the only icon on the screen is the little box with the face in it, which alternates with a question mark. How do I get beyond that? Thanks!

I can be typing and have almost completed the sentence before it all shows up. Sometimes the cursor even stops until the whole thing catches up. It's like it freezes up. Is it a keyboard or mouse problem? Or spyware? Or not enough RAM? It happened while typing an email this morning and is very frustrating when I'm in a time crunch!

One site says "Free Download". Does that mean the use of it is free or just the download, then they start charging for the use of it?

It's always the same message and flashes. I can click the close box and another message comes up saying I still have an unread message and do I want to close. It's very irritating. My pop up blocker is on but that hasn't stopped it.

I know they are made to use less water than the older models of washers, but even on the setting for the "extra heavy" load, there's hardly enough water to get the clothes wet. Is anybody else frustrated by this? BTW, we have excellent water pressure and supply throughout the house in all areas.

I pruned my rose bush and it has come back beautifully, loaded with blooms. However, there are three or four canes that don't have any blooms on them that are growing higher than the ones with blooms. Is it alright to cut off the ones without blooms?

When I load a CD in the driver I get a message "No DVD/CD-Rom drive found". The drive shows up in the "Device Manager" but there's a minus sign in the box. I can get a plus sign to come up but when I close the window, it goes back to the minus sign. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device, but that didn't work. I recently had more RAM added and the drive hasn't worked since.

If so, do you like it? Would you recommend it? Would you go back to IE? What is the process for switching?

But, the righthand side is cut off. How do I get the entire message to show so I can get the update? I've tried right-clicking, dragging, etc.

How can you tell the difference if you get sick?

Under Script Error, there's the option Continue Yes or No. When I click Yes Script Error pops up again. When I click No the screen closes. What's going on?
