wtf?? are you dumb? dude jim brown didnt have as much padding these players now days so he felt every hit he went to the damn pro bowl running on a broken toe he open the door for players like jim brown he broke the racial barrier in professional football this was a spit in the face to every black player in the nfl you owe an apology to the superman himself jim brown 12 hard season with the browns with no extra padding to protect his ***

I'll take Jim first. Yes the players may not have been as good as todays, but without the aid of a passing attack, and damn near an all star team ( like smith) jim had a target on his back and knew that every defensive player KNEW he was getting the ball! If you have younger brothers and cousins and have you ever played free for all with them?! Even though you are bigger, when it's 6,7,8 of them tackling you, it's not so easy! Jim had to do that thru his whole career because he WAS the Browns! Smith is good, but we all know that if Barry decided to stay in the NFL, he would've been the rushing king, and Smith would have to settle for second in the yardage chase! Smith is top 10 no doubt, but best of all time, no. If you got a hundred guys together and asked them to draft a #1 back, that's not on their team, Smith wouldn't win. And as for Hank, the same thing. Yes he has the record for hr's, but look how long it took him to do it.

Emmitt Smith is no where near the best, which proves that you know nothing of Jim Brown (the greatest professional athlete ever), or the NFL in general.
Let me clear some things up.
Jim was on an awful team. Horrible blocking, no passing attack, bad defense. But guess what he did? Led them to a championship victory, literally carrying his and other teams defenses on his back.
He has the highest YPC average of all-time (5.3 YPC) and the highest single season YPC average of all-time (6.8 YPC). He's also the only back to average over 100 yards a game.
He excelled at EVERYTHING. He was around 233 pounds (today's equivalent would be like 310 pounds), ran an unofficial 4.3 40 yard dash, could block like Anthony Munoz (I doubt you know who that is), and could catch like Jerry Rice. He played and dominated in college baskeball, and went down in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame as well as the Pro and College Football Hall of Fames.
Jim also played only 9 seasons, and retired in his prime. Had he stayed around as long as Emmitt did, he would still have the rushing record.
Emmitt was made by his O-line and Darryl "Moose" Johnston, along with the Cowboys great defense and Troy Aikman's incredible passing attack. Without them, nobody would know who Emmitt Smith is. Emmitt wouldn't have broken the rushing record if he would've just retired as a Cowboy, but no. He had to stick around with the HORRID Cardinals just so he could break the record.
I hope I taught you something, and back up wha you say when you say it. Jim Brown is the greatest professional sports player that ever was.
EDIT: Seeing highlights doesn't make you know the player. He made highlights every play, he played with broken toes, wrists. And if you've never heard stories or don't know about him, you don't know a lot about the NFL.

Jim Brown was a highly over rated player in my opinion. His production had more to do with his size than any real skill. Besides, he was bruiser and those types of backs generally don't hold up well long term. Had he not gotten out when he did he could very easily be experiencing numerous medical problems because of it, like so many other ex football players have. If you look at the average yards per year of the top 5 running backs on the all time yardage list Barry Sanders is easily number one. He would have crushed Walter Payton's record and in the process saved us all from watching Emmitt Smith steal Payton's record.

You argument made NO SENSE. Hank was better but Babe was the best first. WHAT. If you are better than the person who came before you then you are better than them. And also. Jim Brown literally plowed through people. He carried defenders on his back and still got a TD. So yes he is great. His thighs were the size of a ******* Mack truck.

Jim Brown was a beast. He's not much of a human being, but he was an awesome player.
