Who is leading the republican party polls right now?
Who is the leading candidate of right now? A link would be nice. Don't just say who you'd like to win.

Mitt Romney provides the republican party with their best chance for taking back the White House in 2012. He currently leads in the polls. Let me explain why:
Mitt is a fiscal hawk. He took over the Salt Lake city Olympics which were losing money and made them very successful. He is a wealthy businessman and has a great understanding of the auto industry from his father George Romney.
Mitt is a social moderate. This may tick off the hard right conservatives but guys would you rather see another Obama term? Didn't think so. This election like all others will be decided by the independents. Romney has a strong appeal to the middle for this reason.
He has his baggage too. Romneycare is being closely linked to Obamacare but Romney has said he would happily repeal Obamacare and he seems to be very sincere about it. Without saying so I think he views Romney care as a mistake but less so for a state like Massachusetts than for the entire nation...different demographics to consider.
Whoever will run against Obama needs to be a strong fundraiser...Obama is second to none at twisting arms. Romney will have a shot at matching Obama in this area. Pawlenty, Caine, Gingrich, Bachman etc. cannot play in this arena at least not until after the primary. Romney, Perry, Palin and Trump would be the best money raisers. Palin is too polarizing of a figure from the constant onslaught by the left...I hope she doesn't run but throws her support which is substancial behind the primary winner. Trump is smart but if he jumps in as an independent it will split the GOP ticket and Obama will win. Trump does not want Obama in for four more years.
That leaves Romney and Perry who has not announced yet but probably will. Perry has some strong positives which are basically that the Texas economy is propping up most of the country right now. However he is a more recent convert to the right and some will distrust him for that.
I think that gives you a pretty up to date look at the GOP field.

The leader at present is Romney. In spite of this undeclared candidate Rick Perry is a strong second. Michell Bauchman is third.
I suspect that with Perry's credentials and the Texas story that he will lead the field shortly after he announces. Don't know if I will vote for him but this is how I read the GOP tea leaves.
