My IOMEGA StorCenter Pro 150d 2TB is running slow?
I have an IOMEGA 150d and it is running rather slow. The drive is about 6years old. I used to be able to open a file straight off the NAS but now i have to copy it to my desktop to open it otherwise it takes forever or just doesn't work. This takes up time and it never used to run this slow. The drive is under half capacity at the moment. The drive did reach full capacity and thought this was the problem but when I removed some of the files stored nothing changed and continued to be slow. It is connected to 4 desktops through a Sitecom 8port network switch - Model No. LN-119 v1 001.
The 4 desktops (all different makes) are running different operating systems Windows XP and Vista and also are running different versions of software which i am using e.g excel and access. (Don't know if this would make a difference)
I have used the software that came with the NAS and used Fix Drive option and also updated it to the latest firmware.
The options i came up with are:
1, Format and restart?
2, Update all PC's with same software (stab in the dark)
3, Defragment (but not sure if possible on NAS)
4, Scrap it and get a new 1?
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Well I looked it up to see exactly what one was!
Looking at I would say at 6 years old and starting to slow down
it's starting to come to the end of it's useful life.
Although these things cost money, my suggestion is to get
another one, run it in tandem and transfer everything over
to the new drive as a back up before the old one crashes.

Hi there,
The first thing to do to speed up pc and get rid of malwares and viruses is cleaning the registry with a program like CCLeaner http://bitly.com/UrAPYj
It's a very good program and easy to use.

So, are you running multiple particians on there?... yikes...
In short, that could definately be having an effect.
I'd also be slightly concerned at a 6 year old 2tb HD. not saying that hard drives can't live that long, but it sounds like yours has had quite a hard life.
