how much does it cost to get new keys made?
pontiac grand am 2004 I have lost both sets of keys. I'm not sure if it has an 'immobilizer' or not - which i read can make it kinda pricey.

I just locked my keys in my Chevy Impala two days ago. Today I went to the dealer with my title, drivers license, and plate number and got a key made for $13.08. Not bad considering the damage I was doing trying with coat hangers and other objects. But since you lost your keys that would be the best bet for you.

The cheapest place to get new keys without one to copy will be at a GM dealer because they can access which tumbler pattern your car has by the VIN. Call around and ask several GM dealers. Any GM dealer will do. They set their own prices I'll guess you can find one who will do it for under $100, possibly as cheap as $50.

Read your owner's manual and call your GM dealer for a first hand answer. Ace Hardware stores are now making more and more special auto keys, but you'd need a key for them to copy. Your GM dealer will know how to identify your car key codes.
