Why so many gals in India are getting attracted towards modeling as a career ?

It is one of the esteem needs and some fulfill it by entering this particular world, name, fame, money, glamour, and silver screen are the very obvious answers to want to make it to the B-Town.

But you must remember, the desire & ability to be there is NOT just restricted to encouragement by parents. Many of the chicks go to unfathomable extents to be at the zenith. 'Casting Couch' is one of those means through which these young girls are able to enter the world of glamour by keeping their self-respect at stake and according to me, this is nothing but being downright senseless and disrespectful. And Casting Couch is quite rampant in Bollywood and at the level of small screen too. Not only that, some girls even try to link their names with big actors to be there. Reportedly, many lasses who have had a very brief appearance in fashion shows but wished to enter the glamour world tried to link their names with Ranbir Kapoor because he is already very popularly known as the 'Casanova' of the Tinsel Town. Hence, these girls are making him as their ladder to reach up.

Ofcourse the Glamour world is short lived and cruel and more than that, it is fake and involves a lot of insecurity, which may make you fall anytime from the top. Apart from that, I personally and strongly reckon that a life lived in glamour world is more like a life lived for others(so even if its your profession) where you don't have time for yourself but only involved in show business, performing for people.

Because they want to make themselves happy.

Modeling gives them a break from their possessive parents.

If I was female, living in an Indian slum and I was attractive, would I take up glamour modelling?

Heck yes, why? Tons of money, and financial security for not only me but my family. You need to consider that some of these "gals" don't have the option of a steady job, and are in desperate need of financial security, i.e. to be able to wake up the next day and not worry about the bills or having no money for groceries.

If you're smart, and not naive, then you will not be taken advantage of.

More north Indians have fair skin than south Indians. The number of girls attracted towards modeling is higher in north India than south India.

When chidambaram started changing Indian Finance system, global cosmetic mafia decided to take opportunity to make money and ensured win of Indian girls frequently. India being conservative, people got excited for this topic (even media) all of a sudden. That seed is grown into all aspects of our life especially TV (media). Thus we are tuned, oriented and culturing, brain washing ourselves & by cosmetic & ad companies that modeling is best carrier. When we believe we do it, right?

I completely agree wid u tht glamor generally is short lived and those lecherous scoundrels could easily spoil a girl who has "i can do anythng for it" attitude ....

education in india is cheaper than any other countries

fashion and modelling is a lucrative career. and its opted by many youth, the main reason is charm and its a main entry to the bollywood.....

they are hoping for a big break to get money

yes many will be taken advantage with big promises but will find out they have other things on their mind

I guess modeling is a way that leads to acting.
