What do you have to plan for in a Military wedding?

What should I take into account, and what type of back-up plans should I have?

My fiance is in the Army. How do I make sure he has the days off that he needs for the ceremony and honeymoon (if possible)?

All your man has to do is to talk to his commander or first seargent to obtain Leave for marriage purposes; keep in mind that the approval of the leave is based on the needs of the Army, for example, say, you want to get married on your first kiss anniversary, but that happens to fall in company training week, your leave will NOT be approved, so keep that in mind when selecting a date; your best bet is during BLOCK LEAVE (ask your man, he knows what it is) which happends dusing the summer (typically August) and Christmas, or right before and after deployment; or a date in which is company is not schedule for any training or duty.

Unfortunately, with the Army you cannot make any plans, and everything has to be done last minute. Do not pick a date, but rather a season and work with it as you go along once the training/duty schedule gets closer to be drafted. I had to plan my wedding 6 months before the date, but we pulled it off.

    Good luck

you should start by having your fiance talk with his co and with the base chaplain.

they will get you started. there are also lots of websites which offer help and advice for planning a military wedding. you can google "how to plan a military wedding" and get plenty of help.

it is always free to use the base chapel and chaplain, but it is customary to give a donation to the base chapel if you get married there.
