Why would a Yahoo user use the answers format to contact friends instead of emailing them?

I hear ya. G&M. Strange.

When I receive a friendly 'you have received a message from another user' I reply using the blue reply line and in the note I add my email address, so they can contact with a proper letter next time if they wish. I have about 10 people who do that with me on yahoo q and a's.

I really don't understand the continuity of your question. Your whole question is chatting, and requires everyone who answers to chat back. This in effect is contacting everyone here as if in an e-mail. Directing a statement in an answer toward a particular person here may be singular in nature but what's the difference? And if that statement has to do with answering the question, why would it be necessary to contact that individual separately by e-mail? I'm confused.

Yeah i know without rules there would be chaos...however i liked yahoo chat better, u could go off and talk to a friend and only had to report when someone got vulgar or threatening.. now they can report just to be an a$$..i just block, dust my feet and move on. franky i like to see how regulars are. chatting is fine in my book.

Some people almost never answer their emails. Also the Y/A email system is very lame. People email me about a question or answer and I have no clue what the question or the answer was, or what they are talking about. If people communicate on the answers page everyone knows what it has reference to.

That would be their only option, if they lost the email address. I have done this

myself at times. Each time I have moved, someone invariably tosses my old note

pads with info I've written. Now I don't have many that I remember. So I have to

start reconnecting to get their email addresses.

The only thing I can think of is lost or blocked e mail. Otherwise it is chatting.

That is the first time I have heard that.

My answer is I don't know.
