The most common failure to cause a no spark condition on the 4.6L engine is the CKP (crankshaft position sensor) http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Duralast-Cr... ADDED: Distributor??Lol The 4.6L does not have a distributor, It has twin, dual coil packs, (DIS Ignition)!

Don't assume it's a timing issue like the previous poster stated.
Always a bad idea to assume when working on cars.
Be logical.
So the spark plugs aren't getting spark, well trace the spark back.
That leads us to the distributor.
If the coil is located inside the distributor (like on most stock vehicles) then take the entire dizzy off and have it checked to see if the coil has gone out.
If the coil and dizzy are both good then diagnose from there.
After checking both of those things THEN you can start to consider a timing issue.
Take the cover off and see if the belt is still in tact.
Unless you were having timing issues BEFORE, then most of the time it's not going to be a timing issue.

Check the spark at the coil first, then at the distributor. Did you earth the plug that you had to test with.
The easiest way to test the spark is to take the lead out of the coil, hold it close to the engine block and crank the engine. If there is no spark, the fault is in the distributor or the ignition circuit.

Don't understand what you mean by getting an old spark plug and wire to test it.
