What is the cause of the UK riots?

An unarmed man was shot dead by the police, the police then took a shot at the radio inside the police car to make it look like their suspect (Mark Duggan) tried to take a shot at them. Later evidence showed the shot came from a police bullet. Further cover ups from the police ensued. This led to general mistrust between police and the community.

Other reasons for the unrest include the increasing divide between rich and poor, the increase in university tuition fees by two and a half times, privatisation of the health service, people dying before they can get operations,poor housing, increase in tax, the scrapping of help for people incapable of work, and lets wait for it: millions of pounds spent on the royal wedding - yippeeeeeeee

Consider that in the UK people aged 25 and younger are all paying the brunt of actions taken by the leaders of the country and the upper class. The fact of the matter (and the same can be said of the US) is that the Top Leadership and Moneyed Upper-class in both the US and the UK SERIOUSLY MESSED UP our country's finances and are continuing along the same path. But who are they making pay for their mistakes? The young, who had absolutely no involvement in the financial decisions that were made. They took money from the budget to bail out private corporation and did not prosecute even ONE PERSON.

The media keeps framing this story as reprisals for a police shooting and that MAY have been the trigger, but ask yourself these question:

If these young people had jobs, would they still be involved in the riots?

If these young people felt they were fairly represented, would they still be involved in the riots? Who's businesses are the young people vandalizing? (Not their own or anyone they know.)

What you have here in essence, is the young unemployed majority striking back at the only 'establishment' they can reach. As CAFTA, NAFTA, and the EU related cross-regional import deals impoverish the Middle-class across the Western world, this may be a portent of things to come in the US and across the EU.

But I promise you that if/when these country-wide riots hit the US, it may not just be riots, it may be civil war, with the possible secession of Texas, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, and other states that are fed up with Federal Over-reach and Wall Street Corruption:

As far as I can tell, the cops shot a (I don't know the politically correct term) black man and killed him. I've been told it's because the man had a gun himself and was threatening the police.

Long story short, many people began protesting and rioting because of this.

Ridiculous.

But you're right, there isn't much information on the news. This is just what other people have been telling me and what I have gathered from online.

Police shot a young man (which is turning out to be a suspicious event now) which started peaceful protests outside a police station, a young girl age of 16 I am told approached the line demanding answers, losing her temper (most likely) throwing bits of card and such at the police, the police then descended on her with shields and batons, 5-10 of them beating her which sparked violence among people in the surrounding area, since then other parts of the UK have seized opportunities to follow and loot places while they have the chance to.

i'm interior the U.S. and theory it became the austerity measures imposed via your government. a minimum of the toddlers have advantages and well-being care whether they dont have jobs. this isn't any reason to break assets and value the government money this is making an attempt to keep. appears like the Watts, la 1965 race riots. i think of the taking photos of the black guy is purely an excuse for the rioting to vent their frustrations from different factors. The law enforcement officials there are rather lenient curiously.

The cause is stupidity.

Destroying property and putting many lives in grave danger is an insane means to attain a goal. No matter what the issues are, there is no justification in such utter destruction and violence. To resort to such lowly tactics makes the rioters far worse than those rioted about. But you can't rioters that.

That's My opinion from watching here in America. It happened here, but attained nothing more than utter destruction of property & many injuries. Apparently the rioters failed to learn from mistakes made here in America. I wish the rest of you the best of luck, and hope this madness stops for you.

Mark duggan was shot by a police in North London. i think this started it all. i live in North London but on the other side. riots in manchester have gone over the top also. nottingham police station firebombed today.

Because the Police shot dead a 20 year old totenham residant and there was protest against it then the protests were hikackes by some sevrel lunatics raioting looting
