How do I become a furniture designer?
Is there a specific degree I require? A school you recommend? A company that accepts amateurs and their designs? Any advice at all?

You will need knowledge of drawing, rendering, and color in order to work in the furniture design industry. You can gain the knowledge and training necessary to work in the industry by earning an Associate of Arts or certificate and continue your education in order to earn a Bachelor of Arts in furniture design, or industrial design with an emphasis in furniture design. All you need is be able to design. Make a portfolio of your best designs (physical copy and one that can be emailed) And well get out there.
As for collage courses you'd want to do product design (not really necessary)
And my experience with product design was entering competitions on DesignBoom.
