Laptop Touchpad stops working after download?

On the weekend, i bought a new laptop. Its a Compaq Presario CQ56-258SA. It obviously has a touch pad mouse (run by Synaptics Drivers) but every time i download something it stops working, (im currently downloading 3DS Max and have just noticed its stopped again!!)

Now this isn't a huge problem as i use a USB Mouse most of the time anyway, and even if i don't have the USB mouse iv found a quick fix (go into Mouse under Control Panel, select Hardware Tab and click Reset Device) but the point is iv just forked out £350 on a new laptop plus another £90 for Norton 360 and MS Office 2010 and the bloody thing should work properly!!

Now, ive tried deleting the Mouse drivers and then rebooting so it detects and downloads new drivers but that hasnt worked. Iv even done a full system restore and that didn't work. Anyone got any other bright ideas for me or am i just guna have to take it in for repair less than a week after i bought it?
