Making a top for a Patiala suit?

Hi, I'm a girl and me and my best friend want to make matching patiala tops. We already have matching black patiala pants and i wanted to know if anyone has any ideas for making a top. We were thinking about a big shirt and then dying it a certain color. Maybe after that we can add some pretty sequences or flowers. Anybody have any better suggestions or ideas? Thanks.
