Is it okay to leave an 12 year old child at home for 9 hours?

it is not illegal. but it is probably wrong. they need supervision to stay out of mischive. they would be bored because they rely on adults to take them places to socialize like the movies and the mall.

i dont think i would leave a 12 year old at home alone for that length of time, a few hours maybe but not 9. i'd probably ask someone to pop in and check on them from time to time. . .

it does depend alot on the child of course. some 12 year olds are very mature, some are not.

All depends where you live. My friend lived in a gated apartment building in a great part of town and her mom left her home alone all night from like 10 till like six the next morning when she was like 9? I am 12 and i would hate being alone for that long because i have nowhere near me i can go.(Like a park or rec or anything :/ )

Depends on the child's nature.

I'm sort of a tough cookie and I'm fine being left alone, even at night time.

If the child's kind of wimpy they probably would rather not stay alone for that long.

I used to stay at home alone when I was only 8 yrs old. That really depends of the child.

Yes and no, technically it is okay but not all kids can do it and really 12 year olds or any kid needs something to do during that time.

If they are mature and responsible, then yes. But 9 hours seems a little long.

well if the child can make their own food without burning the house down and they are responsible i would say yes. But that is still a long time!!!! Hope i can help......oh! or you can make food in advance and have them warm it up. if they get good grades and don't get in trouble i would say yes.

For most 12 yr old yes I was babysitting!!!!

yes of course. They love spending time alone at home. They eat apple and read books and try their mothers dresses and make up stuff, sing in the wardrobe..if not, it is difficult to explain many things and why you want to do them to others at home. My humble opinion.
