Can a koi and a goldfish live without food for 2-3days?

I'll be out of town for two to three days. I feed them twice a day, morning and evening. Based on your experience, can they live without food this long? Thanks!

    Hi Monzi

Sure they can. They are hardy fish. I recommend doing it when they get constipated if you keep feeding them twice a day! The best way to go about feeding your goldfish is to feed them ONCE a day what they can eat in 2 minutes. That's it! They always seem to beg for more food, but if you do it, you will overfeed them. Also remove uneaten food, because ammonia will start to develop.

I recommend feeding them healthy natural food like fruit and veggies.

    Good luck!

Yes, if your fishes are healthy they can last about a week! If your koi/ goldfish live in a pond, that's even better! they are carnivores so they can eat algae and also some bugs/ flies that swim near them.

If they live in a massive tank then probably get them a feeder cube that was made for a few day. They may cloud the water , but thats it. Other wise you don't even need to feed them :)

    Have fun!

They will be fine for up to 2 weeks with no food.

Don't risk those vacation feeding blocks, they are more likely to just pollute the water and kill your fish.

Fish can survive for about 4 days without food. Just feed them really good before you leave and they should be fine. I feed my beta, Tonks, every other day and he is fine. I was gone for an extended weekend and he was perfectly fine when I got back, just hungry! ;)

You can buy wafer-like fishfood at the pet store that releases food slowly for 2-5 days. I do not reccomend leaving them without food.

    Good luck!
