Moving to live with my husband at DLI?

My husband is in the air force and has been at DLI for awhile now. He is already phase 3 and completed the required classes to allow him to move out of the dorms and off base with me. We got married a little over a month ago, while he was still at DLI. I need to move all my things out there by the first week of sept, but moving trucks or pods are VERY pricey, esp for a newly married couple living off of e-3 salary. Is there any way the air force would pay to move my stuff out there instead?

no. you got married after he was stationed there. you are an acquired dependent and as such are not on his orders.

all expenses incurred are yours to bear.

    Depends:

Did you get married before or after if arrived at DLI ?

    1. If you were married after he got to DLI, then you are an acquired dependent and the military will not move you.

    2. If you were married before he got to DLI, then he can go have his orders amended to accompanied tour and themilitary will pay to move you.

    Not likely.

You would have to be on the orders (they would say "accompanied") to get the AF to move you.

If you can't afford the move... Wait until he graduates and gets orders, then the AF will move you and your stuff to wherever he gets stationed.

Source(s): ShackleTURD?!?! I like it! Command sponsorship (I believe) is what you have to get from the command. Thanks for the edit. :-) edit to the edit... The typo demons are bastards. But I liked Shackleturd, may use it for a bit.

Yep, his command will have more information. You need to contact the housing office, and they'll schedule a moving team to come, pack your stuff, and haul it out there. If they don't, they'll tell you who will. It's at no cost to you.

Edit: rusty shackleford is partially correct. if its on your orders.. which can be amended to show a marriage, they'll move you. otherwise they won't.

    Edit: typo ;)
