Version: 3.1 Kindle... don't have page numbers?
I've been doing some reading online, and my version of the kindle is supposed to have page numbers? I only just got it a week or two ago! Yet I have no page numbers or at least I've no idea how to get them on my screen! I've tried the thing where you click the menu button while reading, and it is supposed to show you the page number. All i get is the "location" which is some sort of a huge number... why?
Anyone know how/if I can get real page numbers?
To be honest I cannot say, I've only had it for a very short time and so far have only downloaded one book... it is the first book of the Wheel of time series, so I thought 800ish pages would keep me busy.
So you think it is the book and not the kindle?
I suppose that is possible! Thank you!
You've any idea how I could, in future check, whether or not the book will have real page numbers or not, before I buy it?
I was going to use the kindle for my uni reading too, but if it has no page numbers I cannot use it for essays :(

The page number feature began with Kindle Software Update Version 3.1.
Make sure you have the update:
"From Home, select Menu, then Settings. On the Settings screen you will see the Kindle version at the bottom of the screen." http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.htm...
Realize that the page display feature depends on the ebook:
"Not all Kindle books include page numbers. Kindle books that include page numbers will list "Page Numbers Source ISBN (the print book identification number)" for the matching print edition under "Product Details" on the detail page at Amazon.com. If the Page Numbers Source ISBN (the print book identification number)" listed under "Product Details" on the product detail page is the same edition as your print book, the Kindle page numbers will match the page numbers in the printed edition." http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.htm...

Are all of your books like this? I have noticed that some books do not have page numbers. A lot of the time, the free public domain books are like this, as well as Kindle Exclusives.

some kindle books dont support page numbers. the ones that do, will show the page numbers at the bottom. i dont remember when they added this feature, but kindle books that came out after that time may have page numbers, but its not guaranteed.
