Just give it more time offer it treats you didn't ruin it but don't rush it you don't say how it reacted to it if it freaked out give it time like i said if it didn't freak out keep working with it

I don't think she will be forever afraid of you, but when you bring a new bird home you must wait at least two days for it to settle down and like its cage. Just wait a bit until you take her out and begin taming her again.

One trick i learned was to put the bird back near the food, and tell him its breakfast, so now, any time i have him out and just want to place him back, its like this, Come on Baby, lets eat some breakfast and then (either bed time, bath time or play time) It got him trusting me to feed him, hold him, bathe and trust. Love my Quaker Parrot. Wish I had a girl friend for him.

You did just fine. If she let you hold her she trusted you and that is what you want to do - build up trust with her.
If she was hand raised she will love you. If not, she is wild and you must take her out every day, even several times, and play with her to tame her.
