Religious/Christians - how do you explain the power of prayer?

I hear a lot of religious people rely on the power of prayer, crediting it when a disaster is averted. If for example, a child drowns in a pool but is revived at the hospital, God is praised for sparing the child's life through the power of prayer. If a child is abducted and returned, credit goes to God since he showed mercy. But if God was responsible for saving the child, then wasn't he also responsible for the incident that caused it? What about the children that don't make it back home - to whom does the credit go?

How do those who are religious explain both sides of the equation?

Jehovah will always listen to the sincere prayers of worshippers who are doing their best to serve him according to his will. Does that mean, though, that he will grant their every request?

Know first that God did not want your child to die. God does not take delight even in the destruction of the wicked, let alone the death of a child. (Compare 2 Peter 3:9.) Surely, he is deeply pained when a child dies. After all, we feel the tragedy of death only because we are able to love, to feel for its victims. And we are able to love only because we are made in God’s image. We reflect God’s perfect ability to love, even though weakly at best. (Genesis 1:26; 1 John 4:8) The Bible assures us that God reads the deepest feelings of our hearts, has numbered the very hairs on our heads, knows it even when a sparrow falls from a tree. Thus, he is called “the Father of tender mercies.”—2 Corinthians 1:3; Matthew 10:29-31.

Clearly, then, God does not want any of his intelligent creatures to die. He purposes to end death, swallowing it up forever. (Isaiah 25:8) But if that is how he feels, why does he allow death in the meantime, particularly for children?

Think about this too, IF you buy a car and you Don't use it according to the way the Makers says you should, you can't blame the car maker for Every problem that you have with that car...yes some of the problems it has they will fix But not everything especially when whatever happens could have been avoid. Also Ecclesiastes 9:11,12 says because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all. 12 For man also does not know his time. Just like fishes that are being taken in an evil net, and like birds that are being taken in a trap, so the sons of men themselves are being ensnared at a calamitous time, when it falls upon them suddenly.

You can thank Satan fo deaths Not God, he's the GIVER of Life Not the taker.

When God allows a tragedy to happen, it is not evil in His eyes since He knows the greater good that can come out from our trials and sufferings. After the purpose of the tragedy is satisfied, then God resolves the problem by His divine will and providence. In other words the power of prayer depends on its conformity to the divine will of God.

One would first have to understand how free moral agency works, and God's inability to interfere with it, and one would also have to understand chaos theory and the Butterfly Effect.

Combine these facts of reality with the understanding that God is not a controlling God. That is the first thing that comes to mind when we read his revelation that he is "all powerful". It's not that kind of power, it's the power of love.

Nothing good comes from the beings that rule and inspire this fallen world. Everything that is good can be traced back to God's goodness.

It's not out of the realm of reason to thank God for all good things, no matter the specific circumstance that brings it about.

    Good question though, thanks, neighbor.

Prayer is a power of the mind, the ultra electrical vibrations from the brain, this has been proven with plants, and even tiny water droplets, you can help a plant grow strong and healthy by sending 'good' vibes to it, you can make a water droplet look like a beautiful Crystal snowflake, or you can make a plant wither and a droplet of water look ugly and go stagnant.

A lot of people poorly understand and/or abuse the power and privilege of prayer. Be patient and understanding and full of forgiveness. But there is nothing wrong with giving God the credit for all good things. He is the ultimate Good.

Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

I talk with God in numerous techniques from randomly thanking him for what he has carried out for me, in simple terms asserting sturdy morning interior the mornings, praying whilst i choose help for myself or others, or in simple terms chatting like a buddy. He consistently solutions me in some way yet each and every so often it truly is in simple terms a shaking of his head. as quickly as I say God whilst pray i'm speaking concerning the trinity of the daddy son and holy ghost. God is not responsible for sin, the most basic mistake a person can make about God.

And it can be prayer that brings about someone's death and that is the better state.

If god has a plan and does what he wants, regardless of what people request in prayers, then what is the point of praying?

The thing is that I don't thing religions do explain this. We won't ever know God's full plan, things happen, whether God is responsible I don't know, but all we can do is pray and have faith.
