More lopsided matchup, Juanma Lopez vs Mike Oliver, or Sergio Martinez vs Darren Barker?

Just recently heard that Juanma Lopez will be returning to the ring again on October 1st. He's coming off a knockout loss back in April to Orlando Salido, and has apparently decided to face as overmatched an opponent as Top Rank could find him in order to regain his confidence. Not only does Oliver lack power, his last three opponents have a combined 48 losses.

Also in action on that night, pound for pound great Sergio Martinez. Martinez is arguably one of the three best fighters in the sport, and unless I'm missing something, Darren Barker's not quite in that league. Considering how HBO rejected Martinez's proposed bout with Sebastian Zbik last December, why they approved this is beyond me. Barker's a 26-1 underdog.

I apologize for the anger, it's just fights like this frustrate me. Guess it's time to open it up to the forum though, which October 1st fight in your opinion is the more lopsided matchup?

BQ: Who would you like to see both boxers face next after they win these embarrassingly easy fights?

I personally think that Sergio Martinez vs Darren Barker is more of a lopsided match-up then Juan Manuel Lopez vs Mike Oliver.

"Juanma" is coming off a loss to now current champion Orlando Salido. Juanma lost by TKO 8th round, and most people would of thought that it would be the other way around. Juanma was in his own home country and had the crowd behind him. Unfortunately, he lost though. Top Rank in my opinion must of been pretty nervous to see Juanma lose because everyone would of thought that he would be the next star. On the other hand Top Rank does have Orlando and Gamboa so maybe not that nervous. Anyways, to my point, why would Top Rank have Juanma fight someone that is a top elite guy in the 126 pound weight class? What if he loses again? Top Rank doesn't want to let go off of one of its money makers. So, instead, make him redeem himself, gain some confidence, and verse someone not in the top elite but someone with a descent record.

For Sergio, he is arguably in the top 5 best pound for pound today! He didn't come off a disappointing loss. He doesn't need to redeem himself. He needs to PROVE himself. Knocking out Paul Williams might not be enough. Sergio's division is basically under rule of Sergio but that doesn't mean Sergio cant go down a weight class or go up one since he basically runs his. So why not do it? Or why not get someone like Chavez Jr. atleast! Darren Barker is someone, atleast for me, that nobody heard of. He might be undefeated, but just because he has a 0 on his losses, doesn't mean that it makes the fight a super fight.

Anyways, in my opinion, I believe Sergio's upcoming match against Darren is more of a lopsided match-up then "Juanma's" match-up against Mike Oliver.

    Thank you for your time.

BQ: Juan Manuel Lopez vs Miguel Angel Garcia.

    Sergio Martinez vs Miguel Cotto.

    Thanks.

Stature of both fighter will say that Sergio Martinez vs. Darren Barker is a more lopsided match up than the JuanMa vs. Mike Oliver even though Barker is undefeated. Fans have a very high regards to Sergio that they feel that he is ripe to move up in weight while Lopez just came from a loss to Salido. Sergio have been winning all his fight since his loss to Margarito and considered as avoided fighter in his division. Boxing fans have been expecting him to look for a better competition especially in the higher weight class while Juan Manuel Lopez is about to begin recovering his former status before he suffered his first loss and a fighter of a lower stature is expected to be his next opponent.

Sergio Martinez vs Darren Barker is a huge mismatch! Barker is a cherrypicked opponent by Lou Dibella!

  • Definitely, Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez vs. "Dazzling" Darren Barker (23-0) 14 KO's

he's defeated a long list of lack luster opponents who are "nobodies" we shouldn't

be seeing this fight. This is definitely going to be a one sided win for Sergio going

into his next fight, I really hope that his promoter DBE Lou DiBella looks for some

better quality opponents for Sergio Martinez to fighting looking into the future of his

pro boxing career. Who knows maybe he might put up a fight and be Dmitry Pirog

or Pawel Wolak I seriously doubt it though those guys were ranked much higher. I

know that fighting Mike "The Machine" Oliver is Juan Manuel Lopez's most recent,

fight back in boxing since the loss to Salido however, I think that's a good decent,

opponent for Juan Manuel Lopez he needs to get a win to build up his confidence,

back in boxing after this win then, he should fight O. Salido in a rematch next year.

BQ: Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa, Sergio Martinez vs. Alfredo Angulo

Sergio Martinez vs I forgot his name, is by far one of the most lopsided bout right now. Of all the one listed in the top 10 pound for pound, Sergio Martinez has the easiest fight. Now that he has signed long term with Lou Dibella, it will be expected for him to continue to fight bums. Sergio Martinez is a cherry picker, he wants no piece of Sturm, Froch, Ward, or Bute. He only wants to fight way smaller fighters or only unknown opponents that he holds all the advantages!

the respond is easy: Bob Arum won't enable his funds cow, JCC, Jr., get into the ring with Martinez, as a results of fact he's familiar with completely nicely that Martinez will demonstrate Chavez, Jr. for what he's - an overhyped, overvalued fighter with in basic terms one reliable punch, a left hook. I do believe you, that Martinez would desire to be combating the very best in the branch, a branch that has no longer basic fighters like Dmitry Pirog, Felix Sturm, Daniel Geale, and Sebastian Sylvester. concern is, he's plenty extra helpful than each physique else, it does not look possibly that the promoters of any of those fighters (fairly Klaus-Peter Kohl, who's fighter, Felix Sturm of Deutschland, will on no account face a fighter with a pulse or go away his u . s .) could opt to danger putting their guy in the ring with the lineal middleweight champion. Martinez is already a small middleweight as is, and putting him in against adult men at 168 could be pushing it slightly for him, only my trustworthy opinion, yet as constantly you're making astounding factors, Boxing.
