how bad do you think my anaphylactic reaction is?
so.. i've been to the hospital for quite a lot of times because im too stubborn in regards to my allergy.. i have an allergic reaction to paracetamol (which the doctors and nurses are very surprised when hearing this as they said this is the safest and mildest drug available).. but whenever i get a headache and there is no other medicine available i would take them, followed by antihistamine tablet.. but as whenever i do this my allergic reaction gets worse every time.. the last time (about a year ago) i did this was the worst of all reactions i ever had... i had shortness of breathe, hives as big as the map of the world and they are as big as my eyeballs and grouped together. my oxygen level is very low that i have to have a nurse every time the monitor beeps. I also had a second reaction in a span of 4 hours after my first reaction. Do you think it's life threatening? i haven't had much thought about it, they also prescribed me epipens just in case. i don't take my allergy very seriously but i try and avoid paracetamol at all costs. doctor said i have 'progressive anaphylaxis'.

Absolutely, life threatening. I've landed myself in ER many times, including this week for anaphylactic reaction. I'm deadly allergic to cat fur as well as a few medicines. There's is no worse feeling than your entire face swelling and feeling that wind pipe close off little by little. I also hate how the voice goes too!

I would say it's bad enough to be life threatening! Your body can react badly to anything...if you know the source, don't tempt fate by exposing yourself to that medication. You have no way of knowing if you will have a mild or extreme reaction, from what you said, it sounds as if your reactions are getting worse - which means it could lead to a anaphylactic shock. I was stung by bees all growing up thru my childhood - at least 6 times, never had more than an irritation near the stung area. Then one day when I was 12 I was stung by a wasp...my hand, then my arm, then my neck started swelling. As we pulled up in a rush outside the Dr office I took a final breath and held it...took several shots to calm the reaction enough for me to breathe. I was very lucky. The point is - you never know when an allergy can be life threatening...I say stay away from Paracetamol!
