Can you find out which computer has been visiting your website?

I am not very technical but I was wondering if there was any way of finding out whose computer has been visiting my website?

Yes. You can set up something called Google Analytics which records a history of computers that visit your site. You can tell what computer it is by the IP address (this is the address the computer uses to access the internet). However, this only works if the IP address is fixed. If the IP address isn't fixed then the computer uses the next available address to get onto the internet, therefore it'll appear on Google Analytics as two different computers (when it's actually the same one).

You can sign up and find out more about Google Analytics by going to:

If you know the people then you can tell when they have visited your site but in general you have an indication of where someone is - a city rather than a specific street address. You can see which browser, operating system, plugins such as version number for Flash or Quicktime. You can tell where they came from if they clicked a link from another site, or what they searched for if they came from a search engine. You can tell what pages they looked at and for how long etc.
