Revelation 22:18-19!?!?!?

Revelation 22:18-19

King James Version (KJV)

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take

away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Does that mean the bible Can be changed but is it possible since its the word of god?

Update:

Whats with the Yu-Gi-Oh! reference D:

Revelations is meant as a warning against Paul, who was seeking to mold Christianity into what he wanted by both changing and adding to the teachings of Jesus. He was ultimately successful. It is a shame.

Answering as a Bible scholar and Catholic....Those words existed in Revelation before the book became part of the Bible. But the Bible being a compilation initiated and blessed by the authority of Jesus, that text becomes a warning attaching to the entire book now known as the Bible.

The Holy Bible has had man-made scriptures added to it. Scholars have discovered this and have rectified their findings. Some additions or omissions were from the Medieval times where some Monk would add his own interpretation. The NIV Bible [ New International Version] contains these corrections by the Bible Scholar translators. Overall, the Bible is quite accurate, as it was compared to the Dead Sea Scroll manuscripts, which are thousands of years old, for accuracy by comparison.

no! this is precisely why that safeguard was included, so that nobody will even attempt to add or insert nor subtract or remove anything into or from the prophecy of the book of Revelation. the logical reason for this is not to change the overall context of the whole Scriptures and to strictly maintain the faith in God of the people, the God who cannot lie [Titus 1: 2] and is impossible to lie [Hebrews 6: 18]. Israel was also commanded by God not to add or take away from the word that God is commanding them: [Deuteronomy 4: 2] "You shall not add to the word which I (Moses) am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." the Lord Jesus Christ said in [Matthew 24: 35] "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away." also [Matthew 5: 18] "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the Law, until all is accomplished."

[Proverbs 30: 5-6] Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words Lest He reprove you, and you be proved a liar.

It cannot be changed. So those in false religions who have put together their own Bibles will be taken out of the book of life. Those who added to it meaning they added their own opinions which didn't line up with the word, will be given the plagues spiritually speaking. Of course this applies to you if your ancestors did those abominable things because the curses are passed down from generation to generation. However, those who are trusting the Lord with all their hearts can get the curses erased.

No this means that you should not alter the words of God to deceive others.

Translation is ok, it helps people understand, but if someone were to deliberately change the words or add new stuff he/she would be punished.

Which is ironic as the Bible has been manipulated by the catholic church many of hundreds of times.

Many people have already changed the word of God. From the NKJV, NIV, TEV, to NCV very important information has been removed or otherwise edited to the Word of God. KJV 1611 Authorised is the most trustworthy translation because it was the first english translation of the bible. The link below shows the changes that have been made to the Bible: http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Bible/why_so_many_b...

Jesus can Return at any moment. Money, the World or Our Friends and Family cannot save us from Hell, ONLY Jesus Christ can. It means people should not add to the word of God. An example of this is to say animals go to heaven. No where in the Bible does it say that, but we have people everyday claiming animals do.

It means people should not take away from the word of God. An example of this is to say there isn't a hell, when in fact, the Bible teaches about hell.
