Is my vocal range good?
I've really been working on expanding my range lately so I don't have to me an alto any more and I wanna be able to sing the e6 at the end of Phantom of the Opera and also to impress my voice coach when I start taking lessons again this fall because before I had a hard time hitting anything above about F5. So right now range is d3-d6.. just wondering if that's good.
Also what would I be now?? (alto, mezzo-soprano, soprano?)
I have a really good coach, and i said I used to only be able to sing to about an F5 but now I can go higher.

Yes, your three-octave vocal range is good and extensive. Your voice type is a mezzo-soprano with an extensive lower and upper range.

Wait - if it's hard for you to sing above an F5, how is your highest note a D6?
Your vocal range is three octaves - quite impressive! I was once an alto and took lessons to improve my range and quality - I am a high soprano now, and my coach is amazing. Find a good coach if you can afford it. Other than that, make sure your high notes are very small - don't try to make them huge!
I'd say you're a high mezzo. Most sopranos can't go as low as you can - as a matter of fact, D3 is generally regarded as the lowest note a true contralto can hit. C6 is generally the "soprano note", but most "true" sopranos can easily hit F6. High mezzos can hit D6, at the uppermost extreme. So, for now, I'd say you're a high mezzo.
Also, your tone has a lot to do with what voice part you are. Sopranos have light and bright timbres, and mezzos have a darker sound. Altos have a rich, smoky sound. If that's confusing, just type in each voice type on YouTube. Is your voice the kind that someone would say, "That's a sexy, rich, deep sound!"? Is it the kind that people would compliment you on your brightness and "happiness" in your voice?
Plus, your age will factor into it. As you grow older, your voice often gets higher or lower. With me, my voice became much higher when I hit puberty. If you can sing a D6 now, though, there is high hope in the future for you to sing an E6 - and higher!
Good luck! I believe in you!
