Food, in general is a good thing to bring for a family who lost a loved one. Often times they don't feel like cooking, so any form of food is often welcomed. And yes, fudge can be a great comfort food (expecially if there's females in the family).

Sure, why not. Comfort foods are very welcomed by most people during a time of mourning.
