How can i have high milk supply?
I gave birth almost 3weeks ago and until now I have low milk supply. I have been trying to breastmilk since day1 and i am having a hard time coz I think I have low milk supply. Worst, both my breast are sore right now and whenever I try to pump every two to three hours, there's less milk supply. I read all sorts of online and magazine advises. I even attended a breastfeed class. I am getting impatient and frustrated. help.

Coming from a mum with 3+ years experience breastfeeding, you probably need REST, dear.
You need to recover from giving birth and baby needs you to be using your energy to make breast milk. This is a good time to take up all those offers for help with laundry, changing baby, cooking, cleaning, Let others help you.
And RELAX. The hardest part about breastfeeding is not knowing if what you have is enough. I felt that way even seeing my babies sumo thighs (now normal weight teens). Your baby will be nursing more, to get your milk supply up, as he/she grows and needs more. I always had to tell myself (and marvel) "this Baby knows what she's doing even if I don't!"
Breastfeeding is a GREAT benefit and baby will be healthier, smarter, happier for it. It is so worth the inital hassle of learning (by Mom)! You can try La Leche League: http://www.lalecheleague.org/
Use the "Find Local Support" search tool to find a leader who can help you over the phone, tell you about meetings near you, where you can meet other nursing moms in a supportive atmosphere.

I'm in the same boat! My little guy is 3 weeks old and I'm just getting over a case of mastitis and my supply has seriously decreased. I've tried fenugreek for about a week and it's not working but I'm going to keep trying it. A trick I learned to make more milk is I pump until the last drop comes out (which takes A LONG TIME), I take my nipples out of the pump (but I leave it on so I don't have to reattach) and then I wait 10-15 minutes, after that I turn the pump back on. I ALWAYS have much more milk than expected and I'm always surprised by how much more comes out. Also, I increased my pump vacuum level on my electric pump from a 4 to a 9 which also helped a bit. My supply still isn't where it was but it's slowly been getting better so hopefully this does the trick! I almost gave up a few days ago I was so frustrated so I totally understand!
PS. Did you go to the doctor? If your breasts are sore and your supply has decreased you might also have mastitis or clogged ducts or something. You should probably get that checked out!

It's not uncommon for moms that pump to have low milk supply. Have you tried herbs? My breast milk supply decreased to 1/2 ounce per pumping. I tried fenugreek seeds, and they didn't work. I later found out that fenugreek alone wasn't strong enough. So I started using Breastea from http://www.breastea.com/ and I was engorged overnight. I can now pump 5 ounces at a time.
