Who would you rather have starting for the Yankees?

AJ. Burnett: 1.2 IP, 7ER

Aaron Laffey: 3PM, 2ER

Why on earth would AJ be considered for another start when he couldn't even outperform a kid acquired as "inventory" just so we would have more than one lefty arm in the pen?

Update:

The Yankees have a choice. Noesi, their long man, has much better potential as a starter than Burnett. They can send Noesi down to make room for A-Rod tomorrow, let Noesi start in AAA to stretch out as much as he can, use Burnett as a mop up guy, and bring in Noesi for next week's double header. Garcia is expected to be back pitching one of those games. He went on the DL as a precaution, which was doable because they knew they would need 6 starters because of the double header anyway.

You wouldn't even have to release Burnett and eat his salary. With the off day, you could schedule the starters like this:

Tue: Colon

Wed: Sabathia

Thu: Hughes

Fri: Garcia

Sat: Nova/Noesi

Send Nova down after the first game for Noesi and bring him back as a September call-up in time for his next start. That gives you the option to see what you can do with Burnett in the off-season, most likely trade him, eating a lot of his salary, for anything you can get to some small market team that's looking to ga

I wouldn't have Nova miss a start. I would send him down after the first game of the double header on Saturday and bring him back up on September 1st in time to make his next start after the roster expands. It's purely a bookkeeping matter. We have options on Nova, not on AJ. If you had asked me last week, I would have said release AJ outright, but now we can keep him without letting him start, that gives the Yankees some options to recoup some of his value in the off-season. We need another starter because of the double header, even with Garcia coming back. Noesi can take that role. If he gives us 3-4 decent innings, I'll take it. We might have to make other roster moves between games to add relievers, sending down Wade and calling up Pendleton, perhaps, depending on how deep Nova goes in his start.

Right now I'd rather have the 12 year old little league pitcher who lives across the street from me pitch instead of AJ Burnett.

I guess we have no choice but to deal with Burnett right now cause Garcia is out and I don't see Laffey being any better. But when Garcia comes back, it should be a no brainer.

Why would you send Nova down, he is amazing! Anyway we wouldn't need another starting pitcher if we drop AJ, a five man starting rotation is fine.

Is Colon still in the rotation?

I'll take him. But AJ really looks like butthead with his new haircut.
