Projectile motion er to put it simply is the motion in which an object travels when launched say you throw a ball it will travel in an arc - imagine a basketball player taking a shot and the path the ball travels or to better see the arc, an Olympic athlete throwing a javelin.

Free fall is basically when the object falls straight down ( in my opinion as well) sort of like a parachutist falling to Earth.

    No big difference really.

Free fall is present during projectile motion too. But generally , free fall questions relate with a body falling vertically down, that is at no angle with gravity. While in case of projectile motion , the body travels at some angle with respect to the gravitational force (which is vertical near the surface , it actually directs to the center of the planet).

    Hope this helps.

Projectile motion of a body consist of x-component and y-component whereas free fall motion only have y-component.

Projectile motion have range while free fall motion does not.
